DescriptionGalleryChangelogVersions

Have you ever felt that Minecraft’s world can feel a little quiet at times?
That the forests, rivers, and beaches look alive, but uhm don’t always sound or move alive?

MoAnimals was created to change that.
This mod brings new animals and small details into the game to make the world feel more vibrant, immersive, and alive while staying true to the vanilla style we all love.
From curious raccoons sneaking around your camps, to butterflies fluttering through meadows and forests, to crocodiles lurking in swamps, every creature is designed to feel like it naturally belongs in Minecraft. With it's own set of features.

Alongside the mobs, MoAnimals also adds new environmental touches like duckweed that grows across calm water, giving lakes and ponds more atmosphere.

⚠️ Development Status

MoAnimals is currently in Alpha and under active development.
Things will change quickly, features are being tested, and not everything (anything ups) is polished yet. If you’d like to grow with the mod, now’s the time to join in.

Every contribution is welcome, whether it’s code, ideas, bug reports, or feedback.

Alpha versions have a reduced version scope, this is due to features and implementations wildly change in development. It is just too much work, to manage. When mod versions rolling into beta, version compatibility will be focus and should work mush more reliably.

✨ Current Highlights

Animals

  • 🦝 Raccoons – curious scavengers that can interact with items
  • 🦆 Ducks – swim naturally on water, often in groups
  • 🐊 Crocodiles – powerful predators lurking in swamps and rivers
  • 🦋 Butterflies – lively insects that flutter through flower fields
  • 🐌 Snail - slowly moving creatures that sometimes drop slimeballs

Most of these have some variants, these can be added/extended easly over datapacks. How the Animals work and how to add variants is all explained in the wiki over on Github.

Other

  • 🪷 Duckweed – generates on flat water surfaces, adding more variety to lakes and ponds

🔮 Planned & In Development

  • 🐦 Seagulls – noisy flock animals found near coasts and shipwrecks
  • 🦌 Deer / Deerling – peaceful forest dwellers, forming herds
  • 🦉 Owls – nocturnal birds with unique flight and sounds
  • 🐹 Hamsters – small pets with playful behavior
  • 🐻 Bears – strong wilderness predators with territorial instincts
  • 🦫 Capybaras – social semi-aquatic animals found near rivers and lakes

🎯 Vision

The goal of MoAnimals is to expand Minecraft’s ecosystem with vanilla-friendly animals that don’t just exist, but behave in ways that bring new depth to exploration and survival. Future updates will add more species, interactions, and mechanics to further enrich the gameplay.
