Lots and lots of revamped models & textures
Believe me, @Azzy outdid herself with this one. There have been improvements all over the place, with new models for Pigment Pedestal, Enchanter, the Colored Trees, lots of equipment and so much more. Special thanks to @Noaan for getting the new Bedrock Armor model implemented code-wise and @Jas for doing all the color variations. On that note: You can find the old textures activating the "Programmer Art" texture packs. Even there has been some work. @Jenny77 made some programmer art, that looks kinda nice, actually. Check it out!
Energy System
At the start of midgame, the player now unlocks the Color Picker, which is able to convert Pigment to Ink. Ink comes in all 16 Colors and can be stored in a range of items to power your equipment. For example, Ink can be used to power the Nature's/Radiance Staff, additionally to Sparklestone/Vegetal.
Most of the Trinkets will be changed to require Ink, but this will come later, until existing players had the chance to catch up with this update and get their hands on some Ink. Currently the use of Ink is still pretty sparse, but a lot is in the works. Note: With "Ink" resembling a fluid, it very much behaves like one when transferring.
The Paintbrush
A new tool for your arsenal as an Ink Artist. Your main working tool will gradually unlock more and more abilities as you progress. For now, aspiring artists are able to color blocks in-world using Pigment and fling colored projectiles around. I added a few tricks to make flinging your Ink extra satisfying, of course <3 Crouch-Use to bring up the color selection.
This toolset will gradually improved upon as the magic and spell building system get's added. You can also hit your Pigment Pedestal with it to start crafting, as an alternative for Redstone. (it still seems to react to redstone)
Boostable Trinkets
These aren't your mundane trinkets. They will get more powerful the more Ink you pump into them. This includes a new Trinket Slot: Gloves!
The Cinderhearth
An Ink-powered blast furnace that can be enhanced with upgrades to smelt blazingly fast, double smelting output, grant lots of XP or consume less Ink. It only comes with 2 positions slots. Which ones will you choose?
For modpack makers: The Cinderhearth recipe type supports more than one output per input, including chance based output.

- Guidebook pages for disabled recipes are now automatically hidden
- Pictures have been updated to match the new textures.

- Upgrades have been condensed into a single chapter. This chapter also features 3D renderers, where to place them in each structure that supports upgrades

- Lots and lots of other improvements

Spectrum 1.4.0 - Chaos and Exploration
This update extends progression up to the point of breaking Bedrock. Also brings a wide range of new equipment, machines, enchantments, a new multiblock structure, worldgen and all long list of improvements and fixes.
To discover the new worldgen structure, you will have to discover new chunks.
Discover Relics of the Ancients
Between the rough stone Spectrums first worldgen structure awaits you. Built from an unknown civilization it was protected from intruders for ages. Only who is deemed worthy may enter unharmed. There is new unique and useful loot to be gathered, including a bit of foreshadowing
Progression Expansion
Delve deeper into midgame to unlock new items, blocks, tools and machines to aid you on your journey. See a few selected ones below.
Jade Vine
Maybe the most beautiful plant I have ever seen in Minecraft, sprited by yours truly azzy. This plant is an absolute multitalent, providing multiple new resources. But it's also a challege to grow. Can you meet it's high needs?
Memories
No longer shall the remnants of the mobs you have slain be forgotten. If you gathered Mob Heads when slaying creatures before, you will be able to remember it in form of a memory - until it manifests back into physical form. (there will come a way to get mob heads in the coming updates without hurting animals )
Harder, Faster, Better Stronger
Long awaited, Bedrock Armor & Tools are now available! These are unbreakable, have slightly higher stats than Netherite and come with a single enchantment that exceeds it's natural max level.
Idols
Blocks, that are designed with a specific mob in mind, having a unique use tied to that mob: Some giving a short burst of a potion effect, causing fire, explosions (automining!), teleporting you around and other unique effects. they are activated on hit (even with projectiles) and have a short cooldown. Awesome to build parcours with. With Idols also come two additonal recipe types: Freezing and Heating. With those you can convert come types of blocks into others.
Note: Textures for them are still very barebones and not unique per block. Reason is, some of them may be reworked into other, more imposing structures. But for now I wanted to include them nonetheless you you can play around with them. Happy about any form of feedback regarding those.
Crystal Apothecary
Tired of idling in Geodes just to watch paint dry gemstones grow? Boy do I have the thing for you. Placed in a geode, the Crystal Apothecary automatically harvests fully grown Gemstone Clusters. While this automatic harvesting is not as effective as manually (for the lack of a tool / fortune) it also runs when far away in unloaded chunks! (well, it does not, really. It simulates the drops for the missed time when loaded again, but the final result is pretty much the same & it's much lighter on servers than chunk loading)
Banner Patterns
Always wanted to have an Amethyst Shard Banner to show your love for the buggiest mod around? Now you can! Quite a few of Spectrum's tools and resources can now be used as Banner Pattern. When able to do so, the item lists it in it's tooltip.
Localisation
Thanks to a ton of work of Yoru_Vakoto and Wudji_Notfound, Spectrum is now available in 2 additional languages: Chinese and Brazilian Portugese. Special Thanks to Yoru_Vakoto for all the helpful reports on typos and phrasing, both in the language file and guidebook.

This version is another mayor usability update, bringing lots of smaller improvements of all kinds, but also a huge QOL thing for new players, the progression overhaul. This will make it far easier for new players to get a grasp on how Spectrum works, without getting stuck / lost.
Mayor Additions:
Progression Overhaul In the past, there were many players, especially new ones that did not experience a mod like Spectrum yet, who had trouble with the progression — most commonly in Earlygame. I have made major changes to the guidebook that will make progression easier for all players:
- The guidebook now marks all steps that advance the main progression path with an icon
- The guidebook has gotten a new chapter that lists hints for all mayor progression steps. They can be revealed for a tiny fee, to encourage finding those solutions yourself. If you are the type of player that likes to figure out everything by yourself and to not rely on those hints there will be a small reward, as soon as Spectrums progression is finished.
- The need to get vanilla advancements has been removed completely When finishing the first Earlygame advancement tree a popup mentions a second tree has been unlocked
Shooting Star Overhaul Shooting Stars, a natural phenomenon that is unlocked at the start of Midgame, has gotten a complete overhaul. Not to spoil too much, but finding them - and getting their drops for that matter - is now MUCH more fun and satisfying. They act a source for some rare vanilla materials, too! There has been a lot of tweaking going on to make them the best they can be. They also have gotten custom sounds, particles and the fancy Azzy-texture-treatment. Can you collect them all?
At this point let me introduce you to @Sattes, who did the new Shooting Star model. Some of you might know him as a modpack creator of Adventure Pack and Anima. While he is mostly working on a personal, still upcoming, project, he has already thrown in some great ideas here and there. He surely has an eye for detail.
Bottomless Bundle Automation
- Bottomless Bundles can now be placed down and picked up again by crouching.
- In block form you are able to fill / empty them automatically, like via hopper
- They remember the item that you set them to. So even if a Cobblestone Bundle gets emptied it will only accept new Cobblestone for input. Preventing their content to accidentally change
- They can be placed with Dispensers and destroyed via Piston, just like Shulker Boxes
Experiment Improvements
- Are now broken with Axe / Hoe instead
- Placing Experiments returns the bottle. You can also bottle them back up
- An option to get increased drops for Experiment #1
Other Improvements:
- Spectrum is now officially licensed
- Geodes have been revisited to make sure they generate in less awkward positions now. The default config values have been adjusted accordingly. If you are a modpack maker: Take a look if you want to adjust yours, too

The Pigment Pedestal now starts crafting when it detects a positive redstone edge. That means:
- Pressing a button will craft a single recipe
- Adding a constant signal, like via a lever will craft until the inventory is completely empty
- Pedestal again uses it's previous redstone textures
-
The Black Hole Chest has gotten some love:
- It features 5 item filter slots. As long as at least one of those is set it will only accept items specified in those filters
- It now has an additional slot for Knowledge Gems. If a Knowledge Gem is inserted it will suck up Experience Orbs, too. (If the orb is full any additional Experience is void. That way it prevents Entity-Spam in large farms)
-
The compacting chest can now be toggled between 3x3, 2x2 or 1x1 crafting
-
Failing does not grow endlessly anymore, but only has a reach of 15 blocks... as long as you do not feed it, that is
-
The currently creative-only Ruin has been nerfed in a way to not spread through air anymore and behave just like the old Failing
-
Added a "clear Crafting Tablet" recipe
-
The duration the Pedestal takes to craft vanilla recipes was increased from 20 to 40 ticks and is now configurable
-
Increased generation frequency of Shimmerstone

A lot of existing items can now be enchanted via the Enchanter, making use free / cheaper or adding new effects

Tweaked Shimmerstone spawns

Greatly improved REI compat

- Fixed the fusion shrine deleting buckets
- Fixed Particle Spawner GUI in Multiplayer
- Fixed 1 Pixel overlap for REI recipe handler in Pedestal
~A new chapter of your magical journey awaits you~
Create a bunch of new extraordinary contraptions. Create fantastic tools, revolutionize the way you enchant and discover new natural resources. The latter have always existed around you, with your little knowledge before, you just couldn't perceive them. (no new generated chunks needed!) There is a lot of new content to explore and dozens of improvements to existing stuff.
While Midgame is not fully complete still (there are LOTS of ideas on the backburner), this release will give you all the essential toys to play around with. The retexture by @Azzy is on a good way, too. It is a big undertaking, but Azzy is doing a stunning job to make Spectrum feel even more alive and polished.
For Players: Since there were a lot of new fancy building blocks, the Pedestal structure has changed slightly. Exchange them and you are good to go. For Modpack Makers: https://github.com/DaFuqs/Spectrum/wiki/Integrating-Into-Modpacks
Have fun and expect some bugs!
There have been rare sightings of Endermen bringing strange blocks from their home to the overworld. But why?
- Fixed a crash when other mods pass null instead of ItemStack.EMPTY as a mining tool when breaking blocks (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
